Peace The compulsive surge
of surf against rock, surf
against rock—
white shoulders of water
shattering to fragments,
reassembling
for another run.The stubbornness
of rock—
unyielding shape of granite
cast off once
by a passing glacier—
arrogant now,
unmovable.And over them both,
with its pastel ribbons,
the brief arc of a rainbow
(parent embracing two
warring children)
disappearing, color
by fading color.
